Security Engineer

A global manufacturing and investment enterprise with headquarters in the

Chicago area

is seeking an

Information Security Administrator

to join its growing cybersecurity team. This is a

newly created role driven by continued growth and expansion

, offering the opportunity to help strengthen and scale enterprise security operations.

The Information Security Administrator will report to the

Director of Information Security

and join a small, collaborative team of security engineers while also partnering closely with an extended security team supporting affiliated business units. This role combines

security operations, incident response, and security tooling management

, along with some infrastructure support responsibilities across the IT environment.

The ideal candidate is a

hands-on security professional

who enjoys both operational security work and project-based initiatives, including implementing new security tools, improving controls, and maintaining the organization’s security posture across multiple systems and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations \& Monitoring

• Monitor and respond to information security alerts and events across enterprise systems
• Investigate suspicious activity, perform log analysis, and coordinate incident response activities
• Manage and follow up on security alerts generated through SIEM and endpoint security tools
• Work with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve security-related issues

Security Tools \& Platform Management

• Maintain and optimize security technologies including email security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and SIEM platforms
• Perform health checks and audits on security tools to ensure proper functionality and coverage
• Assist with implementing new security tools and controls across the environment
• Support vulnerability management and remediation processes

Security Reporting \& Metrics

• Track and report on security metrics such as phishing attempts, endpoint protection status, and vulnerability trends
• Provide regular updates to leadership on security posture and ongoing initiatives
• Maintain documentation and reporting related to security events and projects

Infrastructure \& Identity Support

• Assist with IT security functions related to network management, software support, email security, and identity/access management
• Support Microsoft-based infrastructure including Microsoft 365 security and identity controls
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure configuration and operational best practices

Project \& Cross-Team Collaboration

• Participate in security improvement initiatives and ongoing security projects
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to implement security solutions
• Maintain strong organization and communication around project timelines, alerts, and remediation efforts

Technology Environment

• Microsoft 365 security ecosystem
• Microsoft Defender
• Proofpoint (email security)
• Rapid7 (vulnerability management)
• Cisco Meraki (network infrastructure)
• SIEM platforms (Splunk or similar)

Qualifications

• 5\+ years of experience

in an Information Security Administrator, Security Engineer, or similar cybersecurity role

• Hands-on experience with

SIEM tools and log analysis

• Experience monitoring and responding to

security alerts and incidents

• Strong familiarity with

Microsoft security technologies (Microsoft 365, Defender, identity controls)

• Experience with

vulnerability management tools such as Rapid7 or Splunk

• Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in

Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field

• Experience supporting

SOC operations and security monitoring environments

• Exposure to enterprise network security technologies and cloud-based security platforms
