Job Description

Mechanisms Manufacturing Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanisms Engineer to support the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) of advanced aerospace and high-reliability mechanical systems. The successful candidate will work in a hands-on engineering environment, collaborating closely with design, test, manufacturing, and production teams to ensure successful build, qualification, and delivery of complex mechanical assemblies and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing \& Integration Support

  • Provide manufacturing and test engineering support during product build, integration, and verification activities.
  • Support assembly, integration, and qualification efforts for mechanical systems and subsystems.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve build processes.
  • Provide feedback to design engineering teams to optimize manufacturability, assembly flow, cost, and production efficiency.

Testing \& Verification

  • Plan, perform, and lead component-, assembly-, and subsystem-level testing activities.
  • Develop testing requirements, procedures, tooling, fixtures, and support equipment.
  • Support environmental and qualification testing activities, including vibration, shock, thermal, and mechanical performance testing.
  • Analyze test results and generate detailed technical reports documenting findings and recommendations.

Engineering \& Analysis

  • Participate in design reviews, engineering studies, and trade-off analyses to determine optimal assembly, integration, and test strategies.
  • Execute engineering analyses using sound engineering principles while adhering to company standards and program requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through design refinements and lessons learned from testing and production activities.

Troubleshooting \& Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate anomalies, failures, and non-conformances during manufacturing and testing activities.
  • Perform root-cause investigations and support corrective and preventive action implementation.
  • Drive resolution of technical issues through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Contribute to iterative design improvements based on production and test feedback.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience supporting mechanical system assembly, integration, testing, manufacturing, or product development within aerospace, defence, automotive, industrial, robotics, or other high-reliability industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with precision mechanical systems, deployment mechanisms, actuators, hinges, latches, motion-control systems, or similar hardware.
  • Familiarity with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies and non-conformance resolution processes.
  • Working knowledge of ECAD/MCAD integration, configuration management, and product lifecycle management (PLM/PDM) systems.
  • Experience supporting vibration, shock, thermal, or environmental qualification test campaigns.
  • Understanding of cleanroom operations, contamination control, or controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with industry quality and workmanship standards such as AS9100, IPC, ECSS, NASA, ISO, or equivalent regulated-industry requirements.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement certification is advantageous.

Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven problem-solving ability and ownership mindset.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to engineering challenges.

Technical Tools \& Software

CAD \& Design Tools

  • Autodesk Inventor
  • SolidWorks
  • Siemens NX
  • Creo
  • Equivalent 3D CAD platforms

Engineering \& Analysis Tools

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software experience is beneficial.

Data \& Configuration Management

  • Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Engineering documentation and configuration control tools.

General Software

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Test \& Data Acquisition

  • Experience with LabVIEW or similar data acquisition and test automation platforms is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work hands-on with engineering hardware, test equipment, tooling, and precision instruments.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
  • Flexibility to support occasional extended hours when required to meet project milestones.
  • Willingness to support alternative shift patterns, including evenings or weekends, when operational needs require.
