Job Title: Software Developer (Java)

Location: Portsmouth, UK (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite)

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance is required

About the Role

We're looking for a Software Developer to join an Agile Scrum team developing management systems for a next-generation satellite programme.

You'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing, working on modern Java-based microservices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop software within an Agile Scrum environment
• Design, build, and test new product features
• Develop Java-based microservices and REST APIs
• Participate in sprint planning and estimation
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams

Required Experience

• Java 8\+
• Spring Boot, Spring Framework \& Hibernate
• RESTful APIs (HTTPS)
• Microservices architecture
• Distributed systems
• UML / SysML (Enterprise Architect or similar)
• CI/CD, Git \& Jira
• Agile (Scrum) development
• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance

Nice to Have

• Automated testing experience
• Aerospace, Defence, Satellite, or Safety-Critical systems experience
