Japan HR Business Partner (HRBP)
Role Overview
Act as a strategic HR partner to drive business growth in Japan by aligning HR initiatives with commercial and operational objectives. This role requires strong ownership in managing people, culture, and performance, while influencing stakeholders to build a high-performance organization.
Key Responsibilities
1\. HR Operations \& Infrastructure Development
- Establish and strengthen HR policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance with corporate standards and Japanese labor laws
- Ensure effective execution of the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employment verification, performance management, and offboarding
- Maintain strict compliance with local labor regulations and internal governance frameworks
- Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness
2\. Recruitment \& Workforce Planning
- Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding
- Partner with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and develop effective hiring strategies
- Ensure timely and quality hiring to support business growth and operational demands
- Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline through agencies, professional networks, and direct sourcing channels
3\. Talent Management \& Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor to both management and employees on HR-related matters
- Support managers in performance management, team development, and organizational effectiveness
- Proactively manage employee relations issues with professionalism and sensitivity
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture
4\. Leadership \& HR Capability Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the Japan HR team
- Strengthen HR capabilities, improve functional expertise, and elevate performance standards
- Drive continuous improvement and HR transformation initiatives
Qualifications \& Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years of HR experience, preferably in an HRBP or generalist role
- Strong knowledge of Japanese labor laws and HR practices
- Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment (FMCG experience is a plus)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in Japanese and English (both written and spoken)
