Senior Director of Product Engineering

WPS is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to help shape the future of our digital products and evolve our organization into a more software-driven business.

For more than 75 years, WPS has created trusted clinical and educational assessments used by professionals to evaluate, diagnose, and support people in need. This leader will report to the Vice President of Product and turn Product’s vision and customer needs into creative, scalable technical solutions.

What you’ll lead:

• Build and develop a high-performing Product Engineering team

• Translate product needs into technical strategies, roadmaps, and working software

• Guide cloud-native architecture across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP

• Lead SaaS development involving distributed systems, APIs, and data platforms

• Expand applied AI capabilities, including

model governance, MLOps, evaluations, safety guardrails, and auditability

• Potentially help launch and integrate a nearshore engineering team

• Create a culture of accountability, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning

What we’re looking for:

• Senior leadership experience in Product Engineering, Software Engineering, or architecture

• A track record of

building and launching products

, not simply maintaining systems

• Experience building or leading an applied AI or machine-learning engineering team

• Strong cloud-native and SaaS architecture experience

• The ability to move quickly and deliver results in ambiguous environments

• A

humble, collaborative teaching style

and the technical credibility to guide engineers

• A product mindset: Product defines the “what” and “why,” while Engineering determines the best “how”

Experience in healthcare, clinical technology, education, assessments, publishing, or another regulated or expert-content industry is highly valued.

Location:

Mostly remote, with approximately one visit per month to WPS headquarters in Torrance, California
