Destination Marketing Coordinator

The Destination Experience Marketing Coordinator plays a vital role in bringing the story of Montgomery County to life for visitors and the local community. This position is responsible for gathering, curating, and sharing up-to-date information on events, attractions, and experiences that define the destination. Serving as both a knowledgeable resource and a welcoming presence, the coordinator helps visitors confidently navigate the area through personalized itinerary planning and on-the-ground support.

Working closely with the Marketing and Visitor Services team, this role supports operations at the Montgomery County Visitor Center in Valley Forge National Historical Park while actively seeking out new information and experiences to enhance how the destination is presented.

Key Responsibilities

Destination Knowledge \& Information Gathering

• Proactively research and stay current on local events, festivals, attractions, dining, and seasonal activities
• Build and maintain a comprehensive, accurate knowledge base of Montgomery County and the surrounding region
• Establish relationships with local businesses, venues, and organizations to source timely and relevant information in collaboration with VFTCB Membership Manager

Itinerary Development \& Visitor Support

• Create customized, thoughtful itineraries tailored to visitor interests, timelines, and travel styles
• Help visitors navigate the destination with clear, practical guidance on logistics, transportation, and must-see experiences
• Provide exceptional, front-facing customer service that enhances visitor satisfaction and encourages extended stays

Community Engagement \& Outreach

• Act as a liaison between VFTCB and local businesses, organizations, and community stakeholders
• Educate local communities about tourism initiatives, visitor trends, and opportunities to enhance the visitor experience; attend public meetings in local municipalities and townships promoting who we are and what we do.
• Build and maintain strong relationships that support collaborative tourism efforts
• Mascot Coordination - responsible for managing all operational aspects of Monty the Fox appearances and performances. This role coordinates performer and handler schedules, on-site logistics, and ensures seamless mascot appearances at community events, tourism initiatives, and promotional activities. Also oversees the care, cleaning, repair, storage, and inventory of mascot costumes and props to maintain a professional, guest-ready presentation at all times.

Visitor Center Operations

• Support daily operations at the Montgomery County Visitor Center in Valley Forge National Historical Park
• Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable first point of contact for visitors
• Assist with inquiries, distribute materials, and ensure a positive and engaging experience

Content Creation \& Marketing Support

• Contribute engaging, on-the-ground content (photos, videos, stories) for VFTCB’s social media channels
• Identify and capture authentic visitor experiences, seasonal highlights, and park-based storytelling opportunities
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team and Membership manager to align messaging and campaigns

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in hospitality, tourism, customer service, or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for helping others
• Highly organized and resourceful, with the ability to quickly find and synthesize information
• Familiarity with Montgomery County or willingness to become an expert quickly
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, visitor-facing environment
• Current valid drivers license

Work Schedule \& Location

• Based out of VFTCB headquarters in King of Prussia, PA
• Regular presence at the Montgomery County Visitor Center in Valley Forge National Historical Park
• Tuesday through Saturday schedule, including occasional holidays and peak tourism periods

COMPUTER CAPABILITY:

Knowledge of database management, Microsoft Office Suite, mass mailing and e-mailing, mail merge of word processing and Internet research.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, industry and trade journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to meet the typical physical and emotional demands of a standard office environment. This may include occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 40 lb.
