THIS ROLE CAN BE BASED OUT OF MIAMI OR NYC. 5 DAYS IN OFFICE.
Our client is a lean, technology-driven financial firm seeking a hands-on Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead technology strategy, infrastructure, and security operations. This role requires a leader who can balance strategic vision with practical execution in a fast-paced, resource-efficient environment.
The CIO will oversee all aspects of IT operations, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, vendor management, and application delivery across our New York and Miami offices. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to ensure technology investments align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degrees or relevant technical certifications are strongly valued.
Minimum of
10\+ years of progressive IT leadership experience
, including increasing responsibility across infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and technology governance.
Demonstrated experience serving in a
senior IT leadership capacity
(Director, Vice President, or CIO level), with accountability for enterprise-wide technology strategy, operational reliability, and security posture.
Proven success operating within
lean or resource-constrained organizations
, with the ability to balance strategic planning and hands-on execution. Must be comfortable functioning as both an executive decision-maker and a practical problem-solver when required.
Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining
modern hybrid and cloud-based infrastructure
, including:
- Cloud platforms such as
AWS, Microsoft Azure, or comparable enterprise cloud environments
- Virtualized infrastructure and cloud-native architecture
- High-availability environments supporting business-critical financial applications
- Infrastructure monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning
- Disaster recovery and business continuity architecture across geographically separated office locations
Deep knowledge of
cybersecurity frameworks and best practices
, including the design and enforcement of enterprise security controls across:
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR)
- Identity and Access Management (IAM), including role-based access controls
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) implementation
- Network security architecture, including segmentation and perimeter security
- Security awareness programs and incident response planning
- Third-party risk management and vendor security reviews
Demonstrated expertise in
network architecture and endpoint management
, including:
- Secure multi-office connectivity across geographically distributed locations
- LAN/WAN and cloud networking design
- Remote access and secure hybrid workforce enablement
- Enterprise device lifecycle management
- Patch management and system hardening standards
Direct experience supporting
financial services environments.
Experience should include supporting
mission-critical trading, portfolio management, accounting, and reporting systems
, along with familiarity with uptime sensitivity and operational risk exposure typical in financial environments.
Working knowledge of
financial services regulatory and compliance expectations
, including support for internal and external audits and implementation of controls aligned with recognized industry frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, or similar).
