As a
Contracts Manager
, you will have the opportunity to oversee and strengthen SVM's contract administration processes while serving as the primary point of contact for contract-related guidance across the organization. The Contracts Manager will play a critical role in supporting business operations by helping safeguard SVM's interests through the review, administration, and management of contracts and agreements across all areas of the company, including customer, vendor, subcontractor, supplier, and other business relationships. This position serves as a key link between Legal, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, Human Resources, and other departments, ensuring contractual obligations are understood, risks are appropriately managed, and contract administration practices support the successful execution of company-wide business activities.
What You Will Do
Contract Administration \& Oversight
- Oversee SVM's contract administration processes, standards, and internal controls to ensure agreements are administered consistently and aligned with company objectives and risk tolerance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and central coordination resource for the review, administration, negotiation support, execution, and ongoing management of contracts, subcontracts, vendor agreements, customer agreements, and other legal documents.
- Review contractual terms and conditions to identify potential risks, non-standard provisions, and business concerns, coordinating with Legal and company leadership on proposed revisions and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide guidance regarding insurance requirements, indemnification provisions, limitation of liability clauses, and other contractual risk transfer mechanisms.
- Partner with Legal and company leadership to establish contract guidelines, approved contracting practices, and risk management standards.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex contractual issues and provide recommendations regarding acceptable risk exposure and business impact.
Business Partnership \& Contract Guidance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Operations, Project Administration, Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources, and other departments regarding contractual obligations and risk-related matters.
- Interpret contractual language, obligations, and risk allocation provisions, communicating operational requirements, responsibilities, and potential business impacts to internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate contract-related communications and issue resolution between Legal, Operations, Project Teams, and other stakeholders to support timely decision-making and contract execution.
- Partner with project teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure contractual requirements are understood, communicated, and properly managed.
Process Development, Training \& Reporting
- Develop and maintain contract administration procedures, workflows, templates, resource materials, and training programs that support consistent contract management practices across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve contract administration efficiency, consistency, and reporting capabilities.
- Develop and maintain reporting related to contract volume, turnaround times, frequently negotiated terms, and other contract administration metrics to support business decision-making.
- Coordinate training initiatives that strengthen contract awareness, contract administration best practices, and compliance throughout the organization.
- Support the Legal department with other tasks and projects as business requires.
Education, Skills \& Experience
- 7\+ years of experience in contract administration, contract management, legal support, risk management, construction administration, or a related field required.
- Experience reviewing, negotiating, administering, and tracking commercial contracts and agreements required.
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of contractual language, legal terminology, and contract lifecycle management practices.
- Ability to identify contractual risks and communicate business impacts effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems required.
- Experience working with contract management software and reporting tools preferred.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and effectively balance business objectives with contractual risk considerations.
- Willingness to submit to a comprehensive background check required.
Compensation \& Company Benefits Include
This is a full-time exempt position. The compensation for this role is $130,000 - $170,000 annually and is based on experience and skillset.
