About the role:
Our client, a fast-growing FinTech Firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role supports the U.S. Finance organization and plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening accounting operations, and delivering clear, actionable financial insights. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high?volume, complex accounting workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Lead recurring monthly and annual closing cycles, ensuring all deadlines are met and results are accurate.
- Create and validate accounting entries involving payroll allocations, amortization schedules, accruals, and depreciation.
- Oversee the reconciliation process for major balance sheet items, including cash accounts, fixed assets, intercompany activity, and various liability categories.
- Develop and review recurring financial packages, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for leadership.
- Analyze accounting matters that fall outside routine operations and craft supporting documentation aligned with technical accounting guidance (e.g., leases, revenue rules).
- Coordinate with external auditors by assembling required schedules, substantiating data, and supporting the audit workflow from planning to completion.
- Evaluate current internal control practices and propose improvements to strengthen financial reporting reliability, including SOX-related controls where applicable.
- Produce variance explanations comparing budget, forecast, and prior?period performance, highlighting key drivers for leadership.
- Collaborate with finance partners and the Controller on annual budget development and recurring projection updates.
- Enhance accounting processes by recommending automation opportunities, workflow upgrades, and system efficiencies.
- Serve as a resource for questions from operational, sales, and other internal teams requiring accounting expertise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in an accounting function.
- Industry experience in FinTech, Technology, SaaS, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP and complete understanding of the full accounting lifecycle.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets (complex formulas, pivots, lookups, etc.).
- Proven analytical capabilities and a structured approach to solving problems.
- Confident communicator, able to translate financial concepts for non?finance colleagues.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace tools, especially Sheets for building and maintaining models.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize rapidly changing tasks, and manage a substantial workload.
- Familiarity with Workday ERP systems.
- Exposure to IFRS reporting frameworks.
