Job Description

Location: This position may be performed remotely, but requires the flexibility and willingness to travel as needed.

The Opportunity

Praxis is evolving from a clinical-stage company into a commercial organization, one that is built to deliver for patients at scale. Help make that transition real as our Director of Talent Acquisition. You'll lead a high-performing, business-embedded talent acquisition function that enables Praxis to hire exceptional talent across all groups and teams – including commercial, medical, and corporate teams. This role is geared for a player-coach as you'll be hands-on with the work, directly engaging in critical searches, candidate assessment, and closing key hires.

You bring pattern recognition from biotech companies that have successfully made the clinical-to-commercial shift, along with the judgment to adapt that playbook to Praxis's culture: fast, candid, and deeply accountable. You will operate as a thought partner to leaders, a builder of systems, and a hands-on operator who leads from the front. You will be a steward of our culture, ensuring we scale and increase talent density.

The Specifics

  • Build the commercial hiring engine from the ground up

Further develop and execute the talent strategy to support go-to-market buildout such as market access, sales, marketing, and medical affairs. Align hiring plans to business milestones and launch readiness while personally driving priority searches.

  • Partner with leadership

Act as a trusted advisor to our hiring leaders. Challenge assumptions, calibrate talent needs, and ensure we hire for long-term impact. Step in directly on critical roles to shape desired outcomes.

  • Define and operationalize "what great looks like" at Praxis

Translate our values of Trust, Ownership, Curiosity, and Results into clear hiring criteria, interview practices, and selection standards while actively participating in evaluating top candidates.

  • Upgrade how we assess talent

Further develop our rigorous, real-world evaluation methods such as simulations and case work that predict performance in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment.

  • Lead and scale the TA function

Hire, develop, and hold a high bar for a small but exceptional TA team. Create clarity on roles, ownership, and performance expectations, while staying close to execution and delivery.

  • Use data to drive decisions

Establish and track meaningful metrics such as quality of hire, time to productivity, funnel conversion, and impact on outcomes. Continuously improve based on real signal.

  • Protect and evolve our culture as we scale

Act as a culture steward. Ensure we hire people who raise the bar and strengthen how we work, modeling hands-on ownership and accountability throughout the hiring process.

Who you are

  • Proven experience leading Talent Acquisition in a biotech or life sciences company that has successfully transitioned from clinical-stage to commercial-stage
  • Track record of building commercial teams including sales, market access, marketing, and medical affairs in a high-growth environment
  • Experience designing structured, high-signal interview and assessment processes
  • Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of how talent decisions connect to launch success and patient impact
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability owning searches and closing critical hires

How You Work

  • You act like an owner and take initiative without waiting for direction
  • You push for quality while maintaining speed and momentum
  • You are candid and low-ego, and you are willing to challenge leaders when needed
  • You balance building scalable systems with personally delivering results when it matters most
  • You prioritize long-term impact and team health over short-term wins

Cultural Fit

  • You thrive in flat, high-accountability environments where influence is earned
  • You are energized by ambiguity and building from zero to one
  • You hold a high bar and help others rise to meet it

NOTE: The physical and mental requirements of our roles include but are not limited to regular use of a computer, devices or other office equipment, clear communication, and occasional movement. You'll need comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

At Praxis, we believe that taking care of our people (and their people) is important, so we provide a world class benefits package to help you thrive. This includes 99% of the premium paid for medical, dental and vision plans. We also provide company-paid life insurance, AD\&D, disability benefits, and voluntary plans to personalize your coverage. Thinking about the future? We match dollar-for-dollar up to 6% on eligible 401(k) contributions and sweeten the deal with long-term stock incentives and ESPP. We provide a discretionary quarterly bonus, an extremely flexible wellness benefit, generous PTO, paid holidays and company-wide shutdowns. Not to mention, you'll also be joining a phenomenal crew of colleagues who are smart, engaged and inspiring. We aim high, collaborate hard, and produce results.
