A global consumer technology company is seeking an experienced

Senior AI Product Counsel

to join its legal team and partner closely with the Deputy General Counsel. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the company's approach to responsible AI innovation while supporting products used by millions of consumers worldwide.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy, and digital products. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, security, privacy, and commercial teams to provide practical legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle while helping to develop scalable AI governance frameworks for a rapidly evolving business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise product and engineering teams on the development, launch, and operation of AI-enabled products and features.
  • Provide guidance on privacy, data governance, and emerging AI regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global regulatory developments.
  • Assess legal risks associated with generative AI technologies, model usage, training data, and AI-generated outputs.
  • Partner with privacy, security, and compliance teams to implement responsible AI governance and risk management practices.
  • Draft, negotiate, and support technology, SaaS, data licensing, and strategic partnership agreements.
  • Advise on intellectual property matters relating to software, copyright, open-source licensing, and AI technologies.
  • Support customer-facing teams on AI-related contractual commitments and product disclosures.
  • Develop policies, playbooks, and scalable legal processes to support continued growth and innovation.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving AI laws and industry frameworks, translating legal developments into practical business guidance.
  • Deliver training and education to internal stakeholders on AI governance and emerging legal developments.

Ideal Background

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Approximately

7–15 years'

legal experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm and in-house technology experience (although this is not essential).

  • Significant experience partnering with product and engineering teams within a technology company.
  • Experience advising on AI, machine learning, generative AI, or other data-driven products.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
  • Experience negotiating complex technology, SaaS, licensing, and commercial agreements.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property issues affecting software and AI products.
  • Understanding of emerging AI frameworks and regulations, including the EU AI Act and evolving U.S. guidance.
  • Excellent commercial judgment, communication skills, and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice.
