About the Role:
The role of Analytical Laboratory Technician provide supports and assistance in the effective running of the Laboratory by carrying out a variety of technical and experimental tasks utilising established procedures and techniques. This role also offers both on-going professional development through training and further career opportunities within a growing \& innovative company.
Responsibilities:
- Implement company and departmental policies and procedures to comply with Health, Safety, COSHH and Risk Assessment requirements.
- Plan own workload to ensure the correct balance between rapid delivery and appropriate quality of results to support the laboratory team in day-to-day laboratory activities.
- Carry out routine and non-routine tasks accurately, in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
- Follow strict methodology to carry out analysis.
- Record and analyse data, sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues.
- To undertake routine maintenance and calibration checks of laboratory services and equipment including fume cupboards, deioniser, electrical safety checks, autoclave etc. under the guidance of the senior laboratory technician.
- Participate in continual improvement and development of analytical methods and procedures.
- To update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
About You:
Experience
:
- At least 2 years relevant laboratory experience.
- A background in the food industry would be preferable but not essential.
- Previous experience working to a high quality standard such as GMP/GLP.
Skills
:
- A working knowledge of NIR modelling software, HPLC, ICP, wet chemistry and basic microbiology would be advantageous.
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Good mathematical ability.
- Must be detail oriented, have good time management skills, be well organised and be able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with colleagues.
Knowledge
:
- BSc Degree in a related scientific field or a minimum of HND.
- A full clean driving licence.
