Job Description
The Director, Product Management is responsible for defining and driving the product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle execution for the company’s Flat Panel Antenna (FPA)-based satellite communications User Terminal (UT) portfolio.
The role operates at the intersection of customer needs, system architecture, and business strategy, ensuring that product definitions are technically sound, commercially viable, and executable within organizational constraints.
The role also provides functional leadership of the Product Management team at the Advanced Development Center (ADC), including both Technical Product Managers and Operational / In-Life Product Managers, ensuring alignment across the full product lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities \& Tasks
Product Strategy \& Portfolio Definition (FPA UT Portfolio)
- Defines and maintains the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across the FPA-based UT platform and its product variants
- Translates market needs and customer requirements into clear, structured product definitions and Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
- Owns product positioning, segmentation, and value proposition across customer verticals (e.g., aero, maritime, enterprise, government)
- Drives trade-offs between performance, SWaP-C, cost, schedule, and complexity, aligned with business priorities
Technical Product Ownership
- Acts as the system-level product authority for FPA-based UT systems, ensuring alignment between architecture, requirements, and customer expectations
- Works closely with engineering to ensure technical feasibility, integration, and system-level coherence across antenna, modem, and system elements
- Maintains ownership of key system requirements and product specifications
- Defines and maintains platform vs. derivative strategy across multiple customers and programs
Leadership of Product Management Function (ADC)
- Provides functional leadership to the Product Management team at ADC, including:
- Technical Product Managers (strategy, roadmap, system definition)
- Operational / In-Life Product Managers (product ownership in production and field)
- Ensures clear role definition, accountability, and alignment across the Product Management function
- Drives consistency in product management practices, including requirements definition, roadmap development, lifecycle management, and stakeholder engagement
- Allocates and prioritizes Product Management resources across programs and product lines in alignment with business priorities
- Acts as the primary point of alignment between Product Management, TPM, Engineering, and Executive leadership
Customer \& Market Engagement
- Engages directly with customers and partners to understand use cases, operational concepts (CONOPS), and forward-looking requirements
- Represents the organization in customer discussions, RFI/RFP processes, and technical positioning activities
- Translates customer feedback into actionable product insights and roadmap updates
- Maintains awareness of competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments
Cross-Functional Leadership \& Execution Alignment
- Works closely with Technical Program Management (TPM), Engineering, and Manufacturing operations to ensure alignment between product intent and program execution
- Works closely with Sales and customer facing organizations to ensure alignment with commercial and customer needs
- Supports prioritization across programs based on strategic value, delivery constraints, and customer commitments
- Contributes to program governance and milestone reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, FDR) from a product perspective
- Ensures product requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and traceable
Business Performance \& Lifecycle Ownership
- Owns product lifecycle from concept through development, launch, and in-life evolution across the FPA portfolio
- Defines success metrics and monitors product performance, adoption, and customer satisfaction
- Supports commercial teams with value articulation, pricing logic, and business case development
- Identifies opportunities for product evolution, cost optimization, and feature enhancement
Required Qualifications
- 15\+ years of experience in satellite communications, telecommunications, or related technology domains
- 10\+ years of experience in product management, system engineering, or business/technical leadership roles
- Strong system-level understanding of FPA architectures, RF systems, and modem integration
- Demonstrated experience operating at system / platform level across multiple products or programs
- Proven ability to define and deliver complex technical products through product development lifecycles from concept to development through to production and in-life management
- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating product management teams or functions
- Strong customer engagement experience, including RFI/RFP processes and executive-level interactions
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Preferred Skills \& Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or MBA) preferred
- Experience across LEO, MEO, and GEO satellite systems
- Familiarity with phased array antennas, RF front-end architectures, and modem technologies
- Experience with platform-based product strategies and multi-customer derivatives
- Strong analytical and business acumen, including financial and operational trade-offs
- Familiarity with product and program management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, MS Project)

- Must be able to lift up to at least 25 pounds at times
- Ability to traverse to multiple locations
