Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Mechanical Engineer role based in Ottawa, ON. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design projects, perform detailed engineering calculations, and develop specifications for industrial, commercial, and institutional systems. Responsibilities include overseeing machine and equipment design, preparing and reviewing CAD models and drawings, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical accuracy and constructability. The role involves supporting process design and optimization, participating in research and development activities, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also manage project schedules and deliverables, coordinate with clients and partners, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in Machine Design and equipment/system layout for manufacturing or processing environments.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and technical drawing preparation and review.
- Experience in Project Management, including planning, coordination, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
- Background in Research and Development (R\&D), including problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional engineering designation (P.Eng or eligibility) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Ottawa, ON, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Experience with industrial processes, manufacturing facilities, or automation systems is an asset.
