Role Description
The Controller will lead company-wide finance \& accounting functions which consist of but are not limited to budgeting, tax filing, insurance, financial statements, establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, audit, and reporting systems. The position requires a candidate with strong integrity, attention to detail, effective management and communications skills and an understanding of internal controls. Additionally, you will directly manage and mentor the finance \& accounting team of four.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the financial reporting functions of the company
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls for and ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements
- Review and ensure financial controls and compliance with corporate policies are maintained - work with parent company to ensure any financial requests are satisfactorily resolved in a timely manner
- Lead accounting department people to carry job functions including general ledger, A/P, A/R, billing, credit card management and receipts, internal control development and implementation for separation of responsibility, tax/compliance in the areas of sales taxes, new state registrations, penalty abatement and other related tasks
- Serve on planning and policy-making committees with other core leaders
- Lead training for finance \& accounting staff
- Prepare monthly management reports
- Manage the company’s budget process including performing budget to actual comparison and related analysis
- Perform financial modeling of new business proposals and the related evaluation of the related financial reporting, controls and automation necessary to successfully support such programs
- Build strong collaborative relationships with staff, management, and external resources.
- Partner with operations team to ensure inventory control processes and procedure accuracy
- Provide financial tracking over projects
Requirements:
- CPA
- 7-10 years of prior experience in corporate or public accounting
- Advanced Excel skills including pivots and lookups
- Experience with an ERP system (Netsuite preferred)
