Fire Systems Designer (Work From Home)

The Designer will support a growing fire & security business by delivering technically compliant, high-quality fire alarm system designs in line with British Standards and BAFE regulatory requirements. This role is critical to supporting increasing project demand and ensuring installation-ready, fully compliant design outputs within a regulated environment.

The position is hands-on and technically focused, requiring strong working knowledge of UK fire safety standards and practical operational awareness from estimation through to installation.

• Produce compliant fire alarm system designs in accordance with BS 5839 and other relevant British Standards.
• Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, layouts, and supporting technical documentation.
• Ensure all designs meet BAFE certification and regulatory compliance standards.
• Review technical specifications, tender documentation, and project requirements.
• Provide technical clarification and design support to installation teams where required.
• Participate in technical design reviews during recruitment or project phases.
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and aligned with project workflows.
• Contribute to the development of scalable design processes as project volumes increase.
• Maintain strong documentation control and compliance alignment within a regulated environment.
• Other position-level duties as they arise.

Requirements

• At least 3 years’ experience designing fire alarm systems within the UK market. (UK experience required)
• Strong working knowledge of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety standards.
• Experience operating within a BAFE-certified or equivalent regulated environment.
• Ability to produce technically sound, installation-ready fire system designs.
• Strong understanding of compliance, certification, and regulatory frameworks.
• Comfortable operating in a technically scrutinised and compliance-driven environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of design outputs.
• Experience liaising directly with operations and installation teams (advantageous).
• Experience in fire & security integration projects (advantageous).
• Willingness to undertake BAFE certification training pathway (advantageous if not already certified).
