Job Description
Founding Fullstack Engineer \| Onsite New York \| VC-Backed Energy Startup
Berkley Hunt is partnering with a high-growth, early-stage startup building critical software for complex, highly regulated infrastructure. They combine deep domain expertise with world-class engineering, moving at startup speed to deliver tools that professionals rely on every day.
We are seeking a Founding Fullstack Engineer to own and ship end-to-end product features, from API design to frontend interfaces, turning complex workflows into intuitive, production-grade software. This role is best suited for a hands-on technical generalist who thrives in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment.
Who You Are:
- 3–8 years of fullstack experience building production-grade web applications
- Expert in TypeScript/React with strong frontend fundamentals and attention to UI/UX
- Solid backend experience: APIs, databases, auth, and scalable architecture
- Product-minded: you understand business outcomes, user needs, and technical tradeoffs
- Ownership DNA: led projects, made technical decisions, and been accountable for outcomes
- Bonus: experience in regulated industries or designing flows/mockups in Figma
Responsibilities:
- Build user-facing web applications that simplify complex workflows for professional users
- Own the full stack: design APIs, optimize queries, implement frontend interactions, and debug production issues
- Set technical standards for code quality, design systems, testing, and developer workflows
- Collaborate with domain experts to translate requirements into intuitive, reliable software
- Balance speed and craft: ship fast but maintain high-quality, maintainable code
- Mentor future engineers as the team scales and define the engineering playbook
Tech Stack \& Tools:
- Frontend: TypeScript, React
- Backend: Node.js, Python, SQL/NoSQL databases, API design
- Product Tools: Figma or equivalent for mockups
- Additional bonus: experience with technical SaaS, regulated industries, or complex workflow automation
Why This Matters:
The software you build will be used by professionals managing critical, safety-sensitive infrastructure. Your work directly impacts efficiency, reliability, and safety, helping them execute workflows faster, with confidence, and at scale.
This is a high-impact, ownership-first role at a startup where your decisions shape both the product and the engineering culture.
