Job Description
This position will support Culmen International’s private and public sector programs. The candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting a variety of social science research programs on national security-related topics. Research programs involve designing research projects, creating primary research instruments, conducting open-source research, analyzing primary research data, documenting research findings, reporting periodic status updates, and briefing senior client leadership. The candidate will also be responsible for developing the firm's proprietary methodologies and products, as well as building client business.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and integrate information from multiple sources (to include raw data) to produce finished deliverables and services that enable private and public sector customers make informed decisions.
- Work with program leadership to assess the clients’ goals and desired end states to better define the core requirements and design research methodologies and instrumentation to drive primary and secondary research and analysis.
- Work with program leadership to develop, conduct, and manage an assessment methodology to meet client objectives.
- Manage clients, partners, and vendors to ensure a collegial working environment and seamless delivery of high-quality reporting.
- Perform gap analysis to ensure assessment/research plans, instruments, and datasets address all data collection objectives and satisfy client requirements; articulate information gaps and make recommendations.
- Develop information collection strategies using all source methodologies with a focus on leveraging local indigenous sources and secondary research to include social media analysis.
- Develop and refine research and analysis methodologies and explore new sources and methods to acquire information in areas of interest.
- Fuse and integrate streams of disparate information to produce finished written analytical products that define the problem, methodologies, key findings, gaps, assessment and recommendations.
- Ability to “write for release,” which entails evaluating the source and packaging the research in a way that protects proprietary methodologies yet comprehensively conveys project findings to satisfy requirements.
- Provide research expertise and analysis in support directed analytical efforts in response to Requests for Information.
- Support research and development efforts related to Culmen’s leadership’s engagement with higher learning institutions and clients.
- Support Culmen’s leadership’s business development and marketing efforts as required.
- Experience processing, cleaning, storing, and analyzing large datasets.
- Foreign language skills.
- Working knowledge statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, etc.)
- Working knowledge of data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with Mac operating system and applications, including iPhoto, iMovie.
- Familiarity with commonly used analytical tools (e.g., Analyst Notebook).
