Grimshaw is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our New York studio on a temporary basis from June through August 2026, covering a team member's leave. Given the temporary nature of the role, the ideal candidate will be able to ramp up quickly and work autonomously from day one.

The Role
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating original communications to support Grimshaw’s architectural, business development and communications teams, as well as studio-wide communications. A successful Graphic Designer will have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prepare and deliver strong visual materials, including proposal submissions, architectural competitions, and event and marketing collateral.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of the architectural teams' projects, including publication design, visual identity, visual systems, reports, presentations and digital media (e.g. newsletters and interactive documents).
- Produce marketing deliverables including reports and presentation materials. Liaise with business development team for ongoing projects.
- Support competition entries with the proposal team.
- Manage paragraph and character styles, master pages and sections in large scale InDesign books.
- Design and layout collateral for internal communications and business information.
- Create infographics and presentation materials to simplify communication of complex data and concepts.
- Develop promotional videos as needed.
- Maintain standard systems within the department by saving, storing and archiving data according to established protocols.
- Assist the practice in delivering project presentations by providing technical advice and assistance.
Skills And Qualifications
- 3\+ years of experience in graphic design, ideally with exposure to architecture, design, or a related professional services environment.
- Excellent communication skills and effective relation building capacity with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent creative skills with a strong eye for editorial layout and visual systems.
- Must be detail-oriented and well organized, with the ability to follow established design frameworks and brand standards.
- Proven experience developing graphics, illustrations, videos, and other creative materials for web, social, and digital platforms.
- Strong project management skills. Capable of managing multiple projects independently and prioritizing competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work autonomously and hit the ground running.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
- Experience with Figma is preferred.
Employment Details
- Duration: June through August (approximately 2–3 months)
- Employment type: W-2 contract
- Rate: $45-55/hour, commensurate with experience
- Location: New York studio (60 Madison Avenue), 4 days in-person / 1 day remote
