As Group
Financial Controller – Africa Region
, you will be based in our Dubai head office and play a critical role in safeguarding the financial integrity of OBT’s African entities. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will have end-to-end responsibility for controlling, reporting, IC reconciliations, compliance, and cash flow governance across multiple entities and countries.
This role requires regular on-the-ground presence across Africa (up to 50% travel), working closely with local finance teams and senior management to strengthen controls, ensure compliance, and support sustainable business growth.
Job Requirements
- Strong experience in financial and cost control as well as accounting within a multi-country environment.
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax, and internal controls.
- Proven experience managing audits and regulatory requirements in emerging markets.
- master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
- Significant experience working across Africa and multicultural environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (approx. 50%).
- High attention to detail, strong governance mindset, and structured approach.
- Strong leadership, accountability, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage financial reporting integrity across African entities (monthly, quarterly, annual close).
- Ensure accurate financial statements by supporting entities and controlling their financials
- Own Inter Company reconciliations across multiple entities
- Maintain strong balance sheet control, including reconciliations and reviews
- Ensure consistent application of group accounting policies, IFRS/OHADA/local GAAP, and reporting standards.
- Ensure compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements in each country.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and act as the regional point of contact for auditors.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, banking arrangements, and working capital performance.
- Partner with operations and commercial teams on pricing, contracts, tenders, and risk management.
- Drive improvements in finance systems, processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and develop finance teams across African countries, fostering a culture of accountability and compliance.
