Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages, organizes, and maintains hospital information system (HIS) databases to support The Queen’s Health System's (QHS) hospital information systems (HIS) operations.
- Responsible for integrity of database including, planning, development, troubleshooting and issue resolution. Applies system updates as assigned.
- Performs tuning, testing, system analysis and security management.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
- Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
- Frequent: walking.
- Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
- Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Work schedule includes providing 24 hour/7 days a week support as required.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field; four (4) years progressively responsible experience in database administration may be substituted for educational requirement.
- Must successfully complete and maintain certification(s) in the application(s) assigned, and as may be specified per the training agreement.
B. EXPERIENCE:
- In addition to educational requirement, three (3) years healthcare information systems (HIS) implementation and support experience required. EpicCare experience preferred.
- Two (2) years database administrator experience with Cache/IRIS (Mumps), ORACLE or MS SQL Server, depending upon area of assignment, or similar database required.
? Epic Systems database management experience highly preferred.
