POSITION OVERVIEW:
Title: HR Generalist
Reports To: Human Resource Director
Schedule: M-F; 8am-5pm
Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: This position also plays a key role in orientation, internal controls, and compliance efforts, working closely with the HR Manager to ensure alignment with organizational policies and labor regulations. The Generalist serves as a knowledgeable resource for staff and leadership, upholding confidentiality while supporting HR initiatives and day-to-day operations across departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Will include but not limited to)
- Recruitment and Hiring: Play a key role in full-cycle recruitment Create and update job descriptions Post open positions and source candidates via job boards and job fairs Interview applicants and manage the hiring process from offer to onboarding New Hire Administration: Process background checks Prepare new hire paperwork Conduct orientation and ensure completion of training for new employees Maintain accurate records throughout the employee life cycle Employee Documentation \& Compliance: Ensure all employee documentation is current and compliant (e.g., evaluation due dates, driving records, proof of insurance) Collaborate with the HR Manager to maintain compliance with labor laws and internal policies HR Support and Employee Relations: Assist with internal investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations as needed Coordinate offboarding activities, including final paperwork and COBRA notifications Serve as a point of contact for internal and external HR-related inquiries Collaboration and Guidance: Collaborate with Tribal HR, Risk, and Benefits to ensure alignment across entities Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and clarity across departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Pattern I: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or SHRM-CP certification Pattern II: 1–3 years of progressive responsibility in a human resources–specific role
Preferred Qualifications:
2\+ years of experience working with Native American populations in a healthcare setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; climbing stairs and stepstools; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling, and lifting to 30 pounds; and raising objects overhead. The role also requires manual dexterity for operating computers and phones, as well as hearing, talking, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are involved. The employee may be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat and cold, and will be required to walk on uneven ground. The position also requires the ability to safely operate and drive a motor vehicle.
