The Human Resources Generalist serves as the primary human resources contact and trusted advisor for full-service fine-dining restaurants within their assigned region. The HR Generalist partners closely with corporate leadership and restaurant managers to support employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, employee lifecycle changes, ensure compliance with labor laws, deliver manager training, and foster a consistent and positive employee experience across the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and recommend HR best practices.
- Serve as an internal resource for wage and hour compliance, including FLSA and state‑specific regulations related to overtime, meal and rest periods, tip credits, and exempt/non‑exempt classification.
- Oversee I‑9 compliance across assigned regions, including completion, reverification, and retention practices. Conduct internal I‑9 audits and support corrective action efforts when needed.
- Execute core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, terminations, payroll support, performance reviews, and occupational health and safety processes.
- Partner with Payroll to conduct proactive audits, investigate discrepancies, and address compliance concerns before escalation.
- Administer and support employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA (CA), paid sick leave, and other state‑mandated leaves, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
- Support ADA accommodation requests through the interactive process in partnership with leadership and legal counsel as needed.
- Maintain data integrity and consistency within designated client group. Assist with auditing payroll, recruiting, and HR systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance with company policies and employment law.
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to managers on HR systems and processes, including employee relations, leaves of absence, discipline, and compensation.
- Administer employee benefit plans, troubleshoot benefits issues, and ensure Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance.
- Support employees with the open enrollment process and provide benefits education.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including conducting or supporting workplace investigations, participating in disciplinary meetings, and ensuring proper documentation and termination procedures.
- Maintain job descriptions, pay information, and position data across the organization.
- Train and advise managers on job postings, interviewing, and hiring best practices.
- Support delivery and tracking of required compliance training, including anti‑harassment training and policy acknowledgments, in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Ensure newly hired managers and corporate employees are properly onboarded and granted appropriate system access.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting restaurant or hospitality operations is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Resourceful with a strong sense of initiative and ownership
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with HRIS, payroll, and applicant tracking systems preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Location \& Schedule
- Monday through Friday \| 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (in‑office). May be needed intermittently by phone on evenings and weekends for urgent matters.
- Location: Plano, TX
- Some travel may be required to assist on site at venues. Travel will not typically exceed 5%.
