Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager will serve as a strategic partner to plant and business leadership, driving HR initiatives that support operational excellence and workforce engagement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, and organizational development.
The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on leadership style, strong knowledge of manufacturing workforce dynamics, and the ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day HR execution.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership \& Strategy
- Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business objectives and operational goals
- Act as a trusted advisor on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent development
- Drive plant-level initiatives focused on employee engagement, retention, and culture improvement
Employee Relations
- Manage employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures
- Conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolution in alignment with company policies and employment laws
- Foster a positive work environment while supporting a high-performance, accountability-driven culture
Talent Acquisition \& Workforce Planning
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried roles within the facility
- Develop talent pipelines for critical positions and succession planning initiatives
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and implement effective sourcing strategies
Performance Management \& Development
- Implement and manage performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and development planning
- Coach managers on employee performance, feedback delivery, and leadership best practices
- Identify training and development needs and coordinate programs to support workforce skill development
Compensation, Benefits \& Compliance
- Administer compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (including FLSA, EEOC, OSHA, and Louisiana labor regulations)
- Maintain accurate HR records and reporting metrics
HR Operations
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes
- Manage HR systems, data reporting, and HR KPIs such as turnover, absenteeism, and time-to-fill
- Support payroll and benefits administration in coordination with corporate HR and finance
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred
Experience
- 7\+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- 3\+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- 3-5 years of HR experience in a union environment
- Proven experience supporting hourly production workforces
Skills \& Competencies
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-shift or unionized manufacturing environments (if applicable)
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and data-driven HR decision-making
- Experience supporting safety and compliance initiatives in partnership with EHS teams
