Job Description
Senior Infrastructure Engineer \| Azure \| Remote (Netherlands)
I’m partnered with a growing European technology business looking for a
Senior Infrastructure Engineer
to become one of the first dedicated infrastructure hires in the organisation.
This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to move beyond maintaining existing setups and instead help define how infrastructure should be built, scaled, and owned going forward.
The business is investing in stronger internal engineering capability and wants to move away from fragmented ownership and external dependency by building a more mature internal infrastructure function.
What you’ll do
- Design, implement, and improve secure, scalable Azure infrastructure
- Help define the future deployment architecture for a growing engineering organisation
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment reliability
- Own and evolve container-based infrastructure and orchestration patterns
- Introduce stronger monitoring, observability, and reliability practices
- Work closely with software engineers and internal stakeholders to support delivery
- Bring structure, best practice, and long-term thinking to an area that is still maturing
- Help lay the groundwork for a broader internal infrastructure capability
How the stack looks in practice
- Microsoft Azure as the core cloud platform
- Azure Container Apps, Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Bicep
- GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines for CI/CD
- Azure networking fundamentals including VNets
- Monitoring and observability through tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor
- Product environments spanning multiple application stacks, with ongoing platform evolution
About you
- You have strong hands-on Azure experience and can operate independently in that environment
- You’ve worked with containerised deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation
- You understand cloud security, networking, and reliability in production environments
- You enjoy building structure where there isn’t much yet
- You’re comfortable being the person who defines best practice, not just follows it
- You communicate well with engineers and non-specialists alike
- You like roles where ownership is real and your decisions have visible impact
Nice to have
- Experience building or professionalising infrastructure in a growing engineering team
- Exposure to multi-team product environments with mixed legacy and modern systems
- Strong observability and monitoring experience
- Experience mentoring developers on DevOps or infrastructure best practices
- Broader cloud exposure beyond Azure
Benefits of the role
- One of the first dedicated infrastructure hires in the business
- High ownership and visibility across engineering
- Opportunity to define infrastructure standards and direction from an early stage
- Remote-first role across the Netherlands
- Strong autonomy in a business investing in long-term internal capability
- Competitive salary and bonus structure
- Scope to help build out a broader infrastructure function over time
If you’re looking for an infrastructure role with real ownership, greenfield thinking, and the chance to shape how things are done, apply now.
