Summary

Under the direction of the Learning and Development Manager, the Instructional Designer is responsible for creating compelling learning activities and course content, working with subject matter experts to identify training needs, applying instructional design theories and methods, and utilizing multimedia tools to enhance the learning process in a fun, energetic and dynamic manner befitting a world class gaming and resort hospitality enterprise.

The Instructional Designer will partner with the Pathways Team to create competency-based assessment and learning programs for the Pathways to Success program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer using a variety of teaching method
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • Develop, maintain and refresh learning curriculums for leadership development, guest service, new hire orientation, Pathways program and professional development.
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process in a fun and engaging manner
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Create computer based training modules and storyboards
  • Decide on the criteria used for learner’s performance and develop assessment/evaluate instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and develop course facilitation guides
  • Facilitate discussion and collaboration individually and in groups
  • Lead Train the Trainer workshops, provides feedback to Trainers on presentation skills, and assists Training Specialists in presenting materials to learners when needed

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, adult learning or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. 3 to 5 years of work experience in instructional design and a working knowledge of adult learning theory or combination of work and related education

Other Qualifications

  • Must have excellent facilitation and classroom training skills
  • Must have knowledge of eLearning authoring tools.
  • Must have knowledge of technology products such as Microsoft and Apple
  • Must have knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or other Graphic Design Applications
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Must have excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Be comfortable with facilitating and have classroom management skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and be a team player.
  • Presents a professional appearance at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, if needed.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
