Role Description

The IVY LEAGUE Tutor Only (U.S. ONLY!) role is a full-time, remote position focused on providing high-impact SAT/ACT instruction and academic mentorship to ambitious middle and high school students. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions, leading small-group masterclasses, and using Ignite’s proprietary curriculum to design customized lesson plans and practice schedules. The tutor will monitor student progress, analyze diagnostic and practice test data, and adjust strategies to maximize score gains and overall academic performance. The role also involves mentoring students on test-taking skills, academic mindset, time management, and, when appropriate, offering guidance on college applications and extracurricular positioning. Tutors are expected to maintain consistent communication with families, provide clear progress updates, and collaborate with the broader Ignite team to ensure a cohesive, high-quality learning experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Ivy League institution; strong academic record with demonstrated excellence in quantitative and verbal coursework.
• Top-tier standardized test performance (e.g., near-perfect or perfect SAT/ACT scores) and deep familiarity with current SAT/ACT formats and content.
• Proven experience in tutoring, teaching, or academic coaching, ideally in test prep or college admissions support.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
• Strong skills in planning, organization, and time management, including creating individualized study plans and tracking student progress.
• Comfort with remote work, including proficiency with online teaching platforms, digital collaboration tools, and virtual classroom best practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory educational practices; ability to support students from diverse backgrounds.
• High level of professionalism, reliability, and accountability, with a willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed to support students.
• Experience with college application advising, essay coaching, or extracurricular strategy is highly beneficial.
