Our Client, a leading and well-known food company, who's a number-one brand in their category, is seeking a Scientist I to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity to work at a household name, get industry best training, and work with state of the art equipment, systems and products.
This role will work closely with a group of scientists and developers to help advance research and development initiatives. Under the guidance of senior scientific staff, the individual will contribute technical expertise to support discovery-stage projects and conduct hypothesis-driven research to advance development programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine HPLC operations including system setup, solvent preparation, sample preparation and loading, run execution, sample analysis, calibration checks, and shutdown procedures.
- Maintain HPLC instruments, document all runs in accordance with standard operating procedures, troubleshoot minor instrument or method issues, and escalate as necessary.
- Support time-course enzyme activity studies, including sample collection, labeling, storage, and data analysis.
- Execute protein characterization workflows such as SDS-PAGE, western blotting, UV/Vis quantification, buffer preparation, kinetic assays, and related analyses.
- Conduct plate-based enzyme assays and operate plate reader instrumentation.
- Design and perform experiments using scientific methods, analyze and interpret results, and recommend next steps for development projects with guidance.
- Contribute to intellectual property development by supporting research that may lead to patents or new technologies.
- Stay current with scientific and technological advancements by reviewing literature and engaging with industry professionals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze product characteristics and support development and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain detailed and organized laboratory records to document research progress and results.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities and deadlines.
- Communicate scientific findings clearly through data summaries and presentations to internal teams and leadership.
- Follow laboratory safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 1–3 years of industry laboratory experience, depending on level of education.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience operating HPLC systems. not just handing off samples but running and maintaining equipment.
- Other screening skills: HPLC, FPLC, Pipetting, PH testing, expressing enzymes, plate based assay experience
- Experience with protein or enzyme assays and standard biochemical laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with protein purification methods, tangential flow filtration, ultrafiltration, or chromatography techniques (e.g., IEX, HIC, IMAC) is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory processes such as cell disruption, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, and centrifugation.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a research environment.
