Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform and Application Engineering Lead to drive the technical vision and implementation of our core PaaS. You will bridge the gap between complex data engineering and user-facing applications.

You will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a scalable platform that powers social media mobile/web apps, MarTech, AdTech, and eCommerce solutions. A key objective of this role is leading our architectural transition from a strictly AWS-native environment to a flexible, cloud-agnostic architecture using containers and modern orchestration.

Key Responsibilities:

1\. Technical Leadership \& Architecture

  • Architectural Evolution:

Lead the strategic development of our backend from proprietary AWS services to a cloud-agnostic architecture (e.g., transitioning to Kubernetes/Docker-based microservices).

  • System Design:

Design high-performance, event-driven APIs that serve mobile and web applications, ensuring low latency for real-time analytics.

  • Scalability:

Ensure the platform can handle massive spikes in traffic generated by global media events and social audience surges.

2\. Application \& Platform Development

  • Full-Cycle Engineering:

Oversee the development of the core PaaS, ensuring seamless integration between raw data ingestion and the application layer (MarTech/AdTech tools).

  • API Strategy:

Define and maintain published APIs for clients, internal consumers and external B2B partners.

  • Data Activation:

Build the pipelines that transform raw behavioral data into actionable business insights and real-time monetization triggers.

3\. Team Management

  • Mentorship:

Lead an international mixed team of internal and 3rd party developers, conducting code reviews, technical planning sessions, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

  • Collaboration:

Work closely with Product Managers and Data Scientists to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

The Tech Stack (Current \& Future):

  • Current Infrastructure:

AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, EventBridge).

  • Future Direction:

Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), Docker, Terraform/Pulumi, Kafka/Redpanda.

  • Languages:

Node.js (TypeScript), Python, or Go.

  • Data:

NoSQL, Timeseries DBs, Big Data processing frameworks.

Required Experience and Skills:

Must-Have:

  • Experience:

7\+ years in software engineering with 2\+ years in a Lead or Senior Architectural role.

  • Cloud Agnosticism:

Proven experience decoupling applications from specific cloud providers. You know how to containerize workloads and manage orchestration.

  • Event-Driven Expertise:

Deep understanding of asynchronous programming, message queues, and event streams.

  • PaaS/SaaS Background:

Experience building platforms where the API

is

the product.

  • Domain Knowledge:

Familiarity with high-volume data handling (preferably Social Data, MarTech, AdTech and eCommerce environments).

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with GraphQL.
  • Background in MarTech or programmatic advertising.
  • Experience implementing "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) in a multi-cloud environment.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • High-Volume Data Handling:

Experience working with

Real-Time Analytics

or "Big Data" pipelines (e.g., Apache Flink, Spark, ClickHouse, or Snowflake).

  • Industry Background:

Prior experience in

AdTech (DSP/SSP)

  • Monetization Tech:

Understanding of how data ties to monetization (e.g., programmatic advertising, audience segmentation, subscription models).
