We're recruiting for a Mainframe Senior Systems Programmer / Db2 Database Administrator to join a high-performing infrastructure team supporting mission-critical mainframe environments. The Role

You'll be responsible for the deployment, administration and optimisation of Db2 on z/OS environments, ensuring high availability, security and performance across business-critical systems.

Working alongside infrastructure, engineering and application teams, you'll support upgrades, automation initiatives, disaster recovery planning and ongoing platform improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Db2 on z/OS environments.
• Install, upgrade, configure and maintain Db2 subsystems and supporting software.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning recommendations.
• Manage Db2 logs, recovery processes and database availability.
• Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity activities.
• Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis and incident resolution.
• Develop scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain database security and governance standards.
• Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to implement best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvements across platform stability, resilience and performance.

About You

You'll have strong experience supporting enterprise mainframe environments together with a passion for improving performance, reliability and automation.

You'll ideally have experience with:

• Db2 for z/OS administration and systems programming.
• Mainframe technologies including z/OS, ISPF, JCL and JES2\.
• Database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Db2 utilities including COPY, REORG, LOAD, QUIESCE and REPAIR.
• SMP/E, ZOSMF and system maintenance.
• RACF security administration.
• SQL, DDL, DML and database design principles.
• Disaster Recovery and High Availability environments.
• Scripting and automation.
• Agile delivery methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
