We are looking for a seasoned communications professional to join our team as a Manager, Corporate Affairs \& Communications, Greater China. In this role, you will be responsible for partnering closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to create compelling content and programs to support business priorities and promote American Express’ offerings in the Greater China region. You’re also responsible for supporting the management of issues in order to protect the brand.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated communication strategies aligned with business priorities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing strategic counsel on messaging, positioning, and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead internal communications across the Greater China region, driving initiatives across multiple channels (e.g., townhalls, intranet, employee communications) and leveraging innovative formats to enhance colleague engagement
  • Support external communications, including media and social engagement, to promote the American Express brand as well as product and service offerings
  • Plan and execute targeted social engagement initiatives to effectively reach key audience segments and support business objectives
  • Support issue and change management initiatives by providing strategic communications counsel to mitigate reputational risk
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful communication initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with internal protocols and policies
  • Monitor communication effectiveness using data, metrics, and insights, and continuously refine strategies for improved outcomes

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Experience in the financial services or payments industry preferred
  • Proven experience supporting senior executives, including leadership communications and employee engagement initiatives
  • Strong track record in developing and delivering strategic communication plans
  • Solid experience in issue and crisis management across the Greater China region
  • Strong understanding of the social media landscape across Greater China markets; experience executing social outreach and influencer engagement campaigns is a plus
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations and manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills in both Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English
