About The Role
As Manager- HR and IR Specialist, responsible for leading strategic pieces on IR / ER across all the North manufacturing cluster by providing strategic inputs, leading LTS, Unit closures along with the respective unit team, standardizing ER practices across the cluster, Streamlining systems and process with respect to ER, Driving ER capability across the cluster for line managers and union leadership, capturing union pulse through union perception surveys, liaison with the external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Long Term Settlements:
- Liasoning with the unions from time to time and understanding union expectations and liasoning with management in aligning expectations
- Preparation of management proposals in line with current \& future business requirements
- Carrying out detailed analysis of union CODs, past trends and proactively identifying must gets and aligning management on the same
- Preparing detailed costing sheets and conducting simulations with the projected cost outflow and arriving at the band for LTS
- Identifying areas for cost optimization in alignment with the respective cluster teams
- Engaging in LTS discussions and driving towards closure.
- Partnering with the respective cluster leadership teams in driving strategic priorities - Unit Closures, Voluntary Retirement schemes
- IR COE :
- Benchmarking ER practices with other industries once a year and presenting the gaps to the cluster leadership team
- Developing an action plan basis the benchmark study and driving execution of priority points across cluster
- Developing standardized processes on ER related matters - Discipline, Grievance Redressal, Connect platforms, open forum communications
- Developing standardization of approach towards LTS –- COD comparison template , costing templates , Management need identification
- Conducting union perception surveys of management across unionised units to sensitise the top management on union perception of management and take corrective actions
- Sensitising the top management on pulse of union and developing corrective action points to address the same.
- Developing a long-term action plan to standardize legacy practices overtime
- Identifying scope for digitisation in IR
- Developing detailed training modules to train and upskill line managers on critical labour acts, handling conflicts etc – developing ER champions among line managers.
- Undertaking a risk assessment in terms of ER in line with business and partnering with Operations, unit teams in developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity – forecasting potential risks
- Align clusters with potential changes in practices in line with upcoming labour codes
- HR:
- Driving the HR verticals of Recruitment, Training, Employee Engagement within the cluster
- Managing HR budget
- Handling contract workmen
- Preparing and presenting in monthly HR reviews
- PR \& Liasoning :
- Developing a detailed calendar with the list of potential external stakeholders
- Structured visits to ensure smooth rapport
- Partnering with the G\&G team in leveraging G\&G , unit teams initiatives to build face value in the community
Education
- PG Degree - MBA HR / MSW HR.
Experience
- Energy Management Qualification is desirable.
- Experience in senior position like Plant HR Head is desirable.
Key Skills
- Proven experience in IR in a manufacturing set up
- Experience in handling unionised wage settlements, exposure to factory closures and VRS will be an added advantage
- In depth understanding in Disciplinary proceedings, ID Act provisions
- Aptitude in problem-solving - Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
- In depth understanding of Labour Laws, Knowledge on MS Office, HRIS systems
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Experience of leading leams and driving HR function
