Description
Moores Cancer Center is one of 58 NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center supporting over 500 faculty members, researchers, clinicians, and staff across multiple research labs, clinical programs, and shared resources. The center’s mission is to accelerate scientificdiscovery, advance patient care, and train the next generation of cancer researchers and clinicians.
The Manager of Facilities and Shared Resources Operations serves as a key administrative leader within the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center (MCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role is responsible for strategic, operational, and financial oversight of MCC’s complex research facilities and the administrative and fiscal management of MCC’s eight Shared Resources, which support more than 300 faculty, staff, and trainees across 18 departments and multiple research programs.
This position independently manages more than 178,000 square feet of wet labs, dry labs, research support, and administrative space; oversees all facilities planning, renovation, and infrastructure maintenance; ensures compliance with UC San Diego Health and campus regulatory requirements; and serves as the primary liaison between MCC, Campus Facilities Management, Health Facilities Engineering, Environmental Health \& Safety, and scientific leadership.
In addition, the Manager oversees financial and operational performance for MCC’s Shared Resources, including budgeting, rate development, utilization analysis, recharge and cost recovery processes, equipment lifecycle planning, and faculty engagement. The role ensures that Shared Resources operate in alignment with CCSG requirements and institutional policies, supporting MCC’s mission to enable high-impact multidisciplinary cancer research.
The Manager serves as the staff lead on the MCC Space Advisory Committee and works closely with scientific and administrative leadership to execute strategic space planning, growth initiatives, and long-term resource allocation across MCC’s research enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications
- Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training.
- Advanced ability to manage heath care facility projects or programs.
- Advanced planning, organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and / or regulatory requirements for hospital projects.
- Demonstrated budgeting and cost management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage professional staff including training, setting expectations, evaluating and initiating corrective action.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey concepts in written and graphic formats and deliver presentations.
- Advanced skill in building, maintaining and nurturing strong professional relationships.
- Ability to negotiate and effectively resolve conflict.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $108,100 - $204,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $51\.77 - $98\.13
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
