Role Description
We're looking for a driven, detail-oriented, and proactive Manager of People Operations who majors in recruiting and onboarding, and minors in the operational foundations that power a strong, scalable people function.
This is a rare opportunity to shape how Maya attracts, hires, onboards, and supports talent — from interns through director-level roles — while partnering closely with our Director of People Operations to build thoughtful, efficient people processes. You'll own full-cycle recruiting, help design and execute a best-in-class onboarding experience, and contribute to the systems, documentation, and workflows that support our growing team.
We're looking for someone who brings both urgency and empathy to their work, and cares deeply about building a great employee experience from day one. At Maya, we believe the people function is a product - and we want someone who builds it that way.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus
- Own full-cycle recruiting for roles ranging from interns to director-level, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer coordination, and hiring logistics
- Partner closely with hiring managers to define role needs, timelines, and success profiles — serving as a strategic thought partner throughout
- Manage multiple high-volume active requisitions while maintaining quality, consistency, and speed
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to build strong, diverse talent pipelines across departments
- Deliver a best-in-class candidate experience through clear communication, timely follow-up, and thoughtful process design
- Track and report on recruiting metrics, providing insights and recommendations to People leadership
- Lead and continuously improve the new hire onboarding experience, including onboarding packets, schedules, and 30-60-90 day frameworks
- Ensure new hires feel welcomed, informed, and set up for success from offer acceptance through their first several months
Secondary Focus
- Support day-to-day People Operations and HR administration in partnership with the Director of People Operations
- Help maintain accurate employee records related to PTO, job changes, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve people-related processes, workflows, and tools
- Assist with employee documentation, systems upkeep, and coordination with external HR partners and vendors
- Support internal people initiatives related to engagement, culture, communication, and employee experience
- Provide general administrative and project support to the People team as Maya continues to scale
What We're Looking For
- 3–5\+ years of experience in full-cycle recruiting, people operations, or talent operations; experience in media, entertainment, or content businesses is a plus
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environments
- A proactive mindset and track record of building scalable systems and processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Passion for recruiting, onboarding, and creating exceptional employee experiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A self-starter comfortable taking ownership while collaborating closely with leadership
- High attention to detail, reliability, and follow-through
Perks \& Benefits
- Generous PTO policy, plus sick time and company holidays — use it as you please
- Employer-sponsored health benefits including medical, dental, and vision
- Annual professional development stipend — we invest in your growth
- 401(k) with a 3% company match — we're thinking about your future too
- Access to Maya's full content ecosystem: research, events, shows, and the most interesting conversations about workplace culture happening anywhere
- A team that genuinely cares about culture, because it's what we do
