Job Description
The Director of Marketing will serve as a senior portfolio-facing marketing leader within Tide Rock, the unlevered buyout firm that invests in economically resilient B2B companies. This role is responsible for shaping and executing marketing strategy across a group of services-oriented portfolio companies, working closely with Presidents, CEOs, and Sales leaders to directly support revenue growth through value creation initiatives.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role that blends strategy and execution in equal measure. The Director will operate with autonomy, acting as the marketing lead across a portion of our portfolio and serving as a close partner to the CMO in continuing to develop and optimize Tide Rock’s marketing playbook. The ideal candidate brings strong B2B industrial services marketing experience, commercial rigor, and a clear understanding of how marketing drives business outcomes in an investor-backed context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own marketing strategy and execution for a subset of portfolio companies, with a primary focus on Tide Rock’s services-oriented businesses.
- Partner closely with Tide Rock’s YieldCo Presidents, Chief Revenue Officer, portfolio company CEOs, and portfolio company Heads of Sales to align marketing initiatives with business strategy and revenue goals.
- Work directly with Tide Rock CMO to develop, refine, and continuously improve our marketing playbook, utilized across Tide Rock’s portfolio.
- Translate investment theses and business strategies into practical, results-driven marketing plans.
- Oversee and influence execution through a dotted-line relationship with the internal team and external freelancers/marketing services organizations.
- Act as a strategic sounding board for portfolio executives while operating independently and decisively.
- Drive B2B demand generation efforts, including lead generation, account-based marketing, events, and trade shows.
- Leverage advanced and experimental marketing approaches, such as CRM-driven personalization, contact-level ABM, and generative AI optimization initiatives.
- Help portfolio companies adopt modern marketing tools, processes, and performance measurement practices.
- Ensure marketing efforts are tightly tied to revenue impact, pipeline contribution, and commercial outcomes.
SKILLS \& EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 15\+ years of progressive marketing experience, ideally spanning both in-house and 3rd party marketing services or management consulting environments.
- Proven experience marketing B2B services within industrial or service businesses; brings a strong product marketing mindset.
- Demonstrated success partnering with Sales leaders and supporting revenue generation in complex, relationship-driven sales environments.
- Experience operating in a centralized marketing model where business unit leaders or portfolio executives are key stakeholders.
- Strong strategic orientation with the ability to move seamlessly from strategy to hands-on execution.
- Commercially grounded mindset; able to speak in terms of business goals, growth, and value creation rather than abstract marketing concepts.
- Comfortable working in lean, fast-paced, and dynamic environments.
- Familiarity with private equity or investor-backed companies, M\&A environments, or multi-company portfolios a strong plus.
- Experience with modern B2B marketing tools, CRM platforms, ABM strategies, and data-driven personalization.
- Executive presence and credibility to influence senior leaders at Tide Rock and portfolio company level, while remaining highly collaborative.
