The Impact of This Role
At SmartD, we value individual initiative and technical execution. As our Mechanical Designer, you will be the architect of our hardware’s physical form and reliability. You will:
- Drive Disruption:
Integrate complex electrical engineering and thermodynamics into robust 3D models, creating the foundation for our next-generation motor control technology.
- Enable Sustainability:
Use thermal CFD and advanced heat management modeling to ensure our energy-saving products operate at peak efficiency and high reliability.
- Lead Technical Outcomes:
Take ownership of the design lifecycle—from initial concept and durability evaluation (vibration, impact, fatigue) to generating BOMs and supporting production.
What You Bring
- Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in
CAD Design using Solidworks
(assembly, detail, and packaging drawings).
- Expertise in
thermal modeling, CFD, and heat management
.
- Experience designing high-power, high-reliability systems and routing power wiring.
- Experience in plastic molding.
- Knowledge of mechanical durability testing (vibration/impact) and BOM generation.
- Manual skills required - We are building our own prototypes!
- Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE is a plus.
Experience:
- Proven experience in mechanical design for industrial electronics or power systems.
- Familiarity with motor control technology is considered a strong asset.
- Language:
English (Fluent)
is mandatory;
French (Professional)
is preferred to collaborate effectively within our Montreal environment.

Our Hiring Process
We respect your time and maintain a transparent, 3-step process:
- Introductory Call (20 min):
A general discussion via Google Meet to align on interest and fit.
- Technical Discussion (30 min):
A technical deep-dive with the Department Head via Google Meet.
- On-Site Interview (1 hour):
An in-depth technical meeting with your future colleagues and a tour of our lab.
