On-site REQUIRED; expected to cover 1-2 sites in the same metro area up to 30 minutes apart.

Data Center Mechanical Engineer

Overview

The Mechanical Engineer provides technical leadership for the design coordination, construction administration, and commissioning support of hyperscale and mission-critical data center projects. This role oversees mechanical infrastructure including HVAC systems, HVAC controls, plumbing, campus water infrastructure, wet utilities, and water treatment systems while ensuring engineering quality, constructability, operational readiness, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical reviews of design packages, page turns, constructability assessments, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, campus water, WTP, WWTP, and wet utility systems throughout design and construction.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, installation quality, and technical change requests while providing engineering recommendations.
  • Serve as the mechanical discipline SME supporting commissioning activities, system turnover, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with owners, design consultants, contractors, project managers, commissioning teams, and operations personnel to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), Project Design Guidelines (PDG), Common Data Environment (CDE), project specifications, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5\+ years of mechanical engineering, design administration, or construction administration experience supporting mission-critical, industrial, or commercial facilities.
  • Experience with hyperscale or mission-critical data center mechanical infrastructure preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, plumbing, campus water infrastructure, wet utilities, WTP, and WWTP.
  • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, QA/QC, and multidisciplinary engineering coordination.
  • High-voltage electrical infrastructure knowledge is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to support multiple active construction sites.
  • Excellent technical communication skills and the ability to safely work in active construction environments while wearing required PPE.
