JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist serves on a transdisciplinary team for families enrolled in the Infant Toddler Program. They provide comprehensive and integrated support, as is outlined in the Part C Program Manual for Infants and Toddlers in Kansas.

Essential Job Functions (responsibilities)

  • Work as a transdisciplinary team member to collaboratively serve eligible infants and toddlers.
  • Participate in team evaluations to determine the eligibility of referred children, as well as participate in team assessment to determine the functional developmental strengths/challenges of eligible children.
  • Work together with families and other team members to develop appropriate Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSPs) based upon family-identified priorities.
  • Provide Family Service coordination including identifying, mobilizing, and coordinating community resources and services to enable the family to receive the maximum benefits from early intervention services.
  • Collaborate with other community resources for assigned families.
  • Complete appropriate documentation for accountability, compliance, billing, data entry and communication with other providers according to state, federal, and logical guidelines.
  • Deliver ongoing home and community-based intervention utilizing a coaching model of caregiver support to integrate developmental activities into the child’s daily routines.
  • Participate in teaming process.
  • Monitor parent-child progress in terms of goals met.
  • Support Rainbows mission, goals, and Part C Employee expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or designee.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person.
  • Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Kansas License in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Maintain current licensure.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.

  • Work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines (ECSE Teacher, PT, SLP, LMSW, Nurse, Interpreter)
  • Work in partnership with parents/family members.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Able to take responsibility for individual professional growth and licensure by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Complete all documentation in a time-sensitive manner.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:

Exempt

Job Status

  • 220 days worked annually (1,760 hours)(full-time status) or
  • 201 days worked annually (1,608 hours) (full-time status)

WORK PACE:

Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment. May require some extended workdays, but able to flex hours throughout the work week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a remote position that also operates in family homes, and community settings as needed. Requires travel between RUI sites, family homes, and other community agencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity. Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds. Sometimes will work in a noisy environment with many interruptions. May be exposed to communicable diseases.

Sitting: 6 - 7 hours in an 8 hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.

Standing: 1 - 2 hours in an 8 hour work shift. Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis

Walking: 1/2 - 1 hour in an 8 hour work shift.
