Role Description
The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chicago Area. This position is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations, including route planning, load scheduling, and coordination of drivers and vehicles to ensure safe and on-time deliveries. The role involves monitoring operational performance, resolving service issues, and communicating with clients to address scheduling, delivery status, and service expectations. The Operations Manager will manage and support team members, ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards, and collaborate with leadership to improve processes and operational efficiency. The position also includes tracking KPIs, managing documentation, and working with vendors and partners to maintain smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations, with responsibility for daily scheduling, routing, or dispatch.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deliveries and operational tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising or leading teams, including coaching, performance feedback, and support for frontline staff or drivers.
- Knowledge of safety, DOT, and regulatory compliance standards relevant to logistics and transportation operations.
- Comfort with operations software, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools; ability to learn new systems and use data for decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear coordination with team members, leadership, and clients.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle service disruptions, schedule changes, and customer concerns calmly and effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a locally owned or regional logistics company, or familiarity with the Greater Chicago Area, is beneficial.
