Job Description

If you want to run the operational engine of the most exciting new-media brand in Construction technology, read on.

What started as a small podcast interviewing tech operators has gotten a little out of hand. Now, we produce videos that hit hundreds of thousands of views, we interview the biggest CEO’s in the industry through podcasts that shape industry narrative, a paid intelligence product, a vendor directory, and live events across London and beyond.

We're building the biggest media platform that exists in this space. And we need someone to come in and build the engine of our entire operation.

Your job is to work as the CEO’s number 2 and run it alongside him and his team. Properly. To a P\&L.

6 Reasons This Role Is For You

  1. You want to run a real business — numbers, contracts, people, delivery — not manage someone's inbox
  2. You get a kick out of taking chaos and turning it into a machine that runs without you being asked
  3. You think intuitively, act decisively, and don't need supervision to perform
  4. You obsess over the P\&L because you know profitability is the difference between a media brand and a hobby
  5. You're a finisher — loose ends physically bother you,
  6. You can context-switch fast: one hour you're pushing a contract through legal, the next you're rebuilding the Summit budget, the next you're managing a video editor's deadline

6 Reasons This Role Is Not For You

  1. You are happy working at a steady 9-5\. Nothing about what we do is steady and we have not worked 9-5 since day one. That means maximum flexibility and high expectation on results
  2. You want to be told what to do each morning. There is no playbook here - you write it
  3. You think "operations" means admin. Here it means owning revenue retention, margins, and delivery
  4. You're uncomfortable chasing people — lawyers, sponsors, contractors, the founder himself. Chasing is half the job
  5. You need credit and visibility. Your job is to make the founder and the brand bigger, not your LinkedIn
  6. You're sensitive to feedback. We debate hard and move quick. Candid feedback is our love language

The Bottom Line

We don't care how many hours you work, we care whether the business runs. The founder's job is to sell, build the highest-level relationships, and make content. Your job is everything else, and to guard his calendar so ruthlessly that he can't escape doing his.

The Role

This is an ownership-first role. You report directly to the CEO and run the operational side of Bricks \& Bytes end to end: commercial operations, the monthly P\&L, contracts, compliance, team management, and flagship project delivery.

What You'll OwnThe P\&L

  • Own reporting against our growth plan.
  • Manage costs with discipline: contractor spend, software, event budgets. Flag drift before it becomes a problem
  • Run compliance and admin across our UK and US entities, working with our accountants

Sponsors \& Clients

  • Own Day-to-day management of sponsor and client relationships: onboarding, fulfilment, reporting, renewals. No sponsor ever lapses quietly on your watch
  • Chase and progress open opportunities: follow-ups out, proposals delivered, next steps booked
  • Own inbound — qualify, respond, route. Nothing commercially valuable sits unanswered
  • Track every deliverable against what was sold — sponsors get exactly what they paid for, on time

Contracts \& Legal \& Compliance

  • Drive agreements to signature: sponsorships, partnerships, content licensing, co-production deals
  • Coordinate counsel, chase counterparties, keep deals moving. A contract stuck in legal is your problem to unstick
  • Ensure deliverables are managed in accordance with legal

Team \& Delivery

  • Manage our team day to day across content, video, operations, research, and outreach. They report to you on delivery; the founder stays out of the weeds
  • Run flagship projects (events, research, content projects) to deadline and to margin without the founder in every thread

Podcast \& Content Operations

  • Own guest scheduling and the production calendar end to end
  • Own pre-production research so every episode is prepped to a standard the founder can walk into cold

Internal Process \& Operations

  • Own project management plans and processes isnide Notion for each key internal and external deliverable

Your First 90 Days

  • Days 1–30:

Learn the business inside out. Build the monthly P\&L rhythm

  • Days 31–60:

Own sponsor fulfilment and renewals, the contracts pipeline, and one flagship project end to end

  • Days 61–90:

Run the operational side with the founder consulted, not required. Deliver the first full monthly business review

Who You Are

  • You've run things.

7-10\+ years in operations, chief of staff, account management, or running projects in media, agency, events, or B2B. Title matters less than evidence you've owned outcomes end to end

  • You’ve managed team -

you can delegate and focus on elevating yourself based on the team you have around you

  • You're commercially sharp.

Comfortable owning a P\&L, reading a contract, and pushing a deal to close

  • You're organised to a fault.

Dozens of relationships, renewal dates, deadlines, and threads running simultaneously.

  • Obsessed with Systems \& Process -

you nerd out on to-do lists, checklists, gantt charts etc, but maintain enough empathy to know when or when not something is required

  • You write well in English.

Much of this job is getting the right message to the right person at the right time

  • You're high agency, low ego.

Negotiating a renewal, fixing a spreadsheet, and chasing a lawyer in the same hour

  • You're comfortable with small-company chaos.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in media, events, or sponsorship operations
  • Familiarity with construction, property, or AEC technology
  • You've used AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to work faster and sharper
  • Experience with Notion, Beehiiv, HubSpot, podcast platforms, or creator economy tools

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary based on experience and stature
  • Share options
  • A genuine seat at the table … you'll see everything: deals, numbers, strategy
  • A clear growth path: do this well and the sky is the limit in terms of career path
  • Country/Region specific benefits (to be determined)
  • The chance to build the defining media brand in a $12-trillion industry that's only just being disrupted

How to Apply

Send a short email with:

  1. Your LinkedIn profile
  2. Three bullets: the most complex thing you've run end to end, a number you moved, and why this role
  3. One example: the founder is travelling and unavailable. A deadline for a major piece of content is due. You strength is not content production and the team is awaiting approval before shipping. Write the actions you’d take.

No essays. We want to see if you can run things.
