Job Description
Are you a disciplined, process-oriented "numbers person" who takes pride in 100% accuracy? Do you want a career where your work directly impacts every single employee in the company?
As a Payroll Intern at arrivia, you are a Payroll Specialist in training. We aren't looking for a generalist; we are looking for a Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate who wants to master the technical side of pay cycles, tax compliance, and payroll system architecture. This is a high-stakes, high-reward role for someone who loves precision.
Our goal for this internship is a successful conversion into a permanent, full-time Payroll Specialist role.
What You’ll Do
- Payroll Execution: Support the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll cycle for our global workforce, ensuring every hour is tracked and every check is accurate.
- Time \& Attendance: Manage the timekeeping process, working with managers to resolve discrepancies and ensuring "pixel-perfect" data before the "send" button is pushed.
- Tax \& Compliance: Assist with the administrative side of payroll taxes, garnishments, and multi-state compliance to ensure we meet all legal requirements.
- Payroll System Integrity: Gain hands-on experience in enterprise-level Payroll and HRIS platforms, maintaining clean data and eliminating "manual drag" in our records.
- Process Efficiency: Use your Excel skills to audit payroll registers and automate simple calculations to make our cycles faster and more reliable.
Why arrivia?
- Path to Conversion: This role is a dedicated pipeline into a permanent Payroll Specialist position.
- Technical Mastery: Gain specialized expertise in payroll tax, labor laws, and global pay cycles—skills that make you an essential asset to any Finance or HR team.
- Direct Mentorship: Learn the "how and why" of payroll from veteran leaders who are invested in your career.
- Vibrant Scottsdale HQ: Build your professional network on-site at our North Scottsdale headquarters.
- Collaborative Culture: Join a global team that values transparency, initiative, and "keeping it real."
Requirements
- Academic Background: Current Junior, Senior, or Recent Graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or Business.
- Previous Experience: Prior experience in an office setting, a part-time job, or a previous internship where you handled sensitive data or financial records is strongly preferred.
- The "Zero-Error" Mindset: You are naturally organized and thrive in a role where double-checking your work is a point of pride.
- Excel Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must (you should be comfortable with formulas, sorting, and data organization).
- Communication: You are professional and clear when answering payroll questions for our team members.
- Bonus Points: Exposure to benefits administration or basic HR principles is a plus, but your primary passion should be Payroll.
