Photo Editor, News & Enterprise

Fortune is seeking a talented photo editor for our news and enterprise photo desks.  The photo editor in this position will support Fortune’s news desk, finding journalistically appropriate and visually impactful images. They will also create photo-illustrations for short-form news stories, and they will have some responsibility for assigning original photography for digital and print features, in particular for our Asia and Europe issues. This role reports to the Director of Photography.

Responsibilities

• Respond to hourly/daily photo requests from editors and reporters, including non-Getty Images research; design and create fast photo-illustrations for some breaking news and quick-turn features.
• Create unique, on-brand conceptual photo-illustrations for longer-term feature assignments.
• Assign original photography and research for digital and enterprise stories
• Create unique images for daily and weekly newsletters and special columns imagery as needed.
• Manage photo needs for Fortune Asia and Fortune Europe issues.
• Process and manage invoices for photo department.

Your Experience

• 3-5 years working in a newsroom researching images for breaking news.
• Excellent research and investigative news skills/experience.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Can conceive and create photo-illustrations for complex and/or non-visual stories.

Location:

This role will be based in New York City.

Salary Range:

$75,000 - $85,000\. This range is a good faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
