Job Description
The Pipefitter Welder safely lays out, fits and welds fabricated materials for HVAC piping systems. Fabricates and/or assembles, installs, and maintains piping, fixtures, and equipment for gas, steam, hot water, chilled water, condenser water, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all aspects of pipe fabrication/welding.
- Work with tools to complete installation of all aspects of pipe \& welding pipe systems.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to insure conformance to specifications.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts using welding equipment.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Foreman/Project Manager.
Qualifications/Competencies:
- 5\+ years experience in fabricating, welding, and installation within HVAC piping systems.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- See detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings. Look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look as 3-dimensional objects.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, lifts, and scaffolds: and stand, stoop kneel, or crouch.
- Vocational preparation acquired in school, work, military, institutional, or vocational environment.
- Knowledge of local and state codes.
- Ability to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth.
- Capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements are in excess of those for light work. Physically must be able to reach for, handle, and feel objects; lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.
