About Legacybox
Legacybox is the leading direct-to-consumer digitization service, helping families save their irreplaceable analog memories — home videos, film, photos, and more — and bring them into the digital world. We don't just convert media. We give families a way to relive, share, and preserve the moments that matter most, through our digitization service and online platform. We're building the definitive home for family memory, and every touchpoint of our brand must reflect the trust, warmth, and care that that mission demands.
Role
We're looking for a
Principal Brand Designer
, specifically a rare blend of strategic brand thinker and senior-level individual contributor. This is not a management role, but it is a leadership role. You will be the most senior brand design voice at Legacybox, responsible for how our brand looks, feels, and behaves across every surface: digital, physical, retail, and every new frontier we explore.
Think of yourself as a branding agency of one, capable of driving brand strategy, developing comprehensive standards, and executing high-quality creative across teams. You will work closely with both the product and marketing teams, serving as a collaborative partner and the ultimate standard-bearer for the Legacybox brand.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the Legacybox brand identity, including visual language, voice, typography, color, motion, and photography direction, ensuring it scales gracefully across every touchpoint.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive brand standards that govern how the brand appears across marketing, consumer-facing product (app and web), in-person retail environments, packaging, and all internal and external communications.
- Partner closely with the product design team to ensure our consumer app and digital experience are unmistakably on-brand, without compromising usability.
- Partner closely with the marketing team to drive consistent, high-quality brand expression across campaigns, social, email, paid media, and print.
- Lead brand design execution independently, from concept through final delivery, across a wide variety of formats and media.
- Define and enforce design standards that allow others across the organization to produce on-brand work without requiring your direct involvement on every project.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership on brand positioning, narrative, and how the visual identity evolves alongside the company.
- Evaluate and guide the work of external creative partners, agencies, and freelancers when engaged.
- Build scalable design systems and templates for promotional campaigns that can be executed quickly without sacrificing brand quality.
- Design integrated campaigns with a cohesive visual and narrative thread across email, paid media, social, and the website.
Requirements
You’re a thinker and designer who blends craft and empathy, with a passion for creating experiences that move people. You understand that great design is not just functional, it’s emotional. You thrive on bringing structure to complexity, and you’re excited by the challenge of designing for media, memory, and storytelling.
- Figma expertise with experience setting up or managing component-based design and/or brand systems.
- Demonstrable experience helping launch or significantly evolve a D2C brand, you know what it takes to build something from the inside.
- A portfolio that shows both strategic thinking (brand systems, identity work, standards documentation) and exceptional craft (execution across print, digital, packaging, environmental, and product).
- Deep fluency in brand systems: you understand how to create frameworks that empower other designers and non-designers alike to produce consistent work at scale.
- Experience collaborating with product design teams and understanding the nuances of designing within consumer-facing software (app and web).
- A player-coach mindset: you are energized by doing the work, not just directing it, and you know when to roll up your sleeves versus when to zoom out.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate brand decisions to cross-functional stakeholders, including executives.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, resource-conscious environment where creative problem-solving and prioritization matter.
- Experience designing for retail or physical environments is a strong plus, we are actively building toward greater physical presence.
Why Join Us
This is a rare opportunity to shape the brand identity of a category-defining company at a pivotal moment in its growth. Our customers trust us with some of the most meaningful objects in their lives, the home videos, photos, and film reels that hold their family's story. That emotional weight is real, and the right designer will feel it.
We're building toward an ambitious future, expanding into new business channels and new ways to help families experience and share their memories. You won't just be maintaining a brand. You'll be helping build one for the long haul.
Work Environment
We embrace a flexible approach to work. Many of our team members are fully remote, and we value results, communication, and craftsmanship above location. We also take great pride in our hometown of Chattanooga and our multiple facilities there: our downtown office and our digitization facility, where thousands of family memories are carefully handled and converted every day. Whether working from home or visiting in person, you’ll be part of a team deeply rooted to a sense of place, and committed to quality and care. You’re always welcome in Chattanooga.
Legacybox is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
