About Us

ikeGPS was founded in Wellington, New Zealand, where the technology behind our platform was first developed. Today, we're publicly listed on both the New Zealand Exchange and the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:NZX: IKE), with our global headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado. Our team spans the United States and New Zealand, united by a shared mission to transform how the world's critical infrastructure is measured and managed.

We build the operating system for overhead power and communications networks across North America. Our solutions help utilities, engineering firms, and communications companies assess, analyze, and manage critical infrastructure at scale. The work is technically complex, the stakes are real, and the impact is tangible.

Position Overview

We are seeking to hire a Product Designer who thrives at the intersection of technical depth and design excellence. This is not a role for someone who creates beautiful screens in isolation. It is for someone who wants to shape how thousands of utility professionals interact with AI-powered infrastructure data every day, and who understands that making complex things simple is one of the hardest and most rewarding problems in design.

You will contribute to design patterns and principles that scale across our expanding product portfolio, execute rapid prototyping, iterate designs, and gather customer feedback in partnership with product and engineering colleagues. Over time your design system may extend across the full ikeGPS portfolio including established desktop applications.

We operate AI-first. That means you will use AI-powered design tools not as a novelty but as a core part of how you work, and you will incorporate AI-powered design tools into your day-to-day workflow and contribute ideas that help set the standard for what that looks like across the product team.

What You Will Do

User Experience Design

Design user experiences for new cloud-native applications serving utilities, communications companies, and engineering firms. Your work will help users leverage complex capabilities, including physics-based simulations, computer vision outputs, AI-powered insights, and predictive analytics, through interfaces that feel natural and efficient. As the product portfolio expands your scope will grow to include analytics dashboards, data acquisition workflows, and administrative interfaces.

Geospatial \& 3D Interface Design

Design intuitive, map-based interfaces for infrastructure visualization, 3D viewing experiences for utility poles and overhead assets, and data visualization dashboards that surface actionable insights from massive geospatial datasets. You will help define and refine interaction patterns for multi-source imagery including drone, vehicle-based, mobile, and satellite data, and ensure every design accounts for the unique challenges of spatial data and 3D navigation.

Design System \& Tooling

Build and maintain a comprehensive Figma-anchored design system with reusable component libraries. Create engineering-ready specifications that minimize design-to-development friction. Leverage AI-assisted tools including Figma AI, LLM-powered ideation, and generative design to accelerate iteration without sacrificing quality. Partner with front-end engineering to ensure feasible, performant implementation and collaborate with the ikeGPS Brand team to maintain consistency from first marketing interaction through daily product use.

Rapid Prototyping \& Validation

Create low, mid, and high-fidelity prototypes appropriate to the development stage. Design interactive prototypes for customer validation and stakeholder alignment. Conduct usability testing, synthesize feedback into actionable improvements, and iterate quickly based on customer research, technical constraints, and business requirements. Generate reusable design assets and prototypes that support future product development.

AI-Powered Design Workflows

Use LLMs including Claude for design research synthesis, content generation, and documentation. Leverage generative design and prototyping tools such as Figma Make and Claude Design to move faster from concept to validated prototype. Stay current with AI design tool evolution, identify productivity opportunities, and share what works with the broader product team.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 4\+ years of UI/UX design experience with complex B2B enterprise applications
  • Experience contributing to the design and delivery of products from concept through launch.
  • Seasoned experience with geospatial interfaces, map-based applications, and location intelligence products
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma including component libraries, design systems, auto-layout, and collaborative workflows
  • Strong experience designing 3D visualization interfaces and spatial data interactions
  • Fluency with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Claude Design, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience creating engineering-ready design specifications that accelerate development
  • Strong understanding of front-end development constraints including HTML/CSS, responsive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2\.1)
  • Exceptional visual design skills across typography, color, layout, and interaction
  • User research and usability testing experience with ability to synthesize insights into design decisions
  • Portfolio showcasing polished data visualization, analytics dashboards, and complex workflow designs (submission required for candidate finalists)

Preferred

  • Experience in utility, telecommunications, or infrastructure industry applications
  • Background in GIS, remote sensing platforms, or asset management systems
  • Familiarity with 3D engines and frameworks such as Three.js, Cesium, or Unity
  • Knowledge of data-intensive applications processing imagery, LiDAR, or sensor data
  • Experience designing AI/ML-powered features or computer vision applications
  • Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS or front-end prototyping tools
  • Previous experience in high-growth or transformation environments

You Will Thrive Here If You Are

  • A continuous and curious learner who stays current with design trends, tools, and technologies
  • Passionate about making complex technology simple and approachable
  • User-centric with genuine empathy for the workflows of utility professionals
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive projects independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners
  • A collaborative partner who builds strong relationships across engineering, product, and brand
  • Detail-oriented and committed to pixel-perfect implementation
