Job Description
About the Role
Bose is expanding its engineering presence in Lisbon, and quality will be a foundational part of that growth. The QA Manager – Bose Lisbon will grow and lead a high-performing Quality Engineering team responsible for validating our consumer electronics products — including headphones, earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, and home theater systems.
You will establish a strong, credible QA organization in Lisbon that partners deeply with global engineering teams. While global product teams retain release ownership, this role is accountable for ensuring the Lisbon QA team delivers high-quality validation, clear product insight, and trustworthy test results that inform release decisions.
This role goes beyond managing test execution. You will define how quality is executed within the Lisbon organization and across Bose Global — setting clear standards, building scalable processes, and creating an environment where engineers and QA operate as true partners.
What You’ll Do
Build \& Lead a High-Impact Lisbon QA Team
- Hire, mentor, and grow QA engineers and specialists as Bose expands in Lisbon.
- Establish team structure, role clarity, and career development pathways.
- Build a team known for technical depth in hardware/software integrated systems, strong ownership and accountability, and data-driven insights that improves product decisions.
- Create a culture grounded in ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Build a team that global product teams view as a trusted and capable partner
Establish Strong QA Practices in the Region
- Define and implement QA processes and validation standards within the Lisbon organization.
- Ensure high-quality validation of hardware/software integrated products.
- Drive risk-based coverage models aligned to customer-impacting workflows.
- Ensure tests produce clear pass/fail criteria and actionable artifacts that accelerate triage.
Partner Closely with Global Teams
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, DevOps, Product Management, and Hardware teams across regions.
- Contribute quality insight early in feature development to improve testability and reduce late-cycle risk
- Support release readiness discussions by providing clear validation status, risk assessments, and quality metrics.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8\+ years in QA, Software Engineering in embedded systems testing.
- 3\+ years leading technical teams.
- Experience testing consumer electronics or hardware/software integrated systems
- Strong background in test automation (Python preferred)
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins or similar)
- Experience with Bluetooth (BLE), Wi-Fi, or networking protocols
- Familiarity with mobile ecosystems (iOS/Android)
- Has built or scaled a QA capability — including team structure, lab and device practices, validation processes, and release readiness models — with demonstrated improvements in defect escape rate, triage speed, or program predictability
- Demonstrates strong ownership and accountability while operating effectively in a matrixed, global environment
- Uses data to drive prioritization and investment decisions, while maintaining a sharp focus on the customer experience in hardware/software integrated products
