The Opportunity

A well-established global trading firm is expanding its research bench and looking for an early-career analyst to sit close to the desk, working on commodities-related research and data problems. You'll be part data scientist, part market researcher - pulling insight out of messy, unconventional sources and turning it into something a trader can actually use.

What the Work Looks Like

Day to day, you're exploring datasets that don't come pre-packaged - figuring out what's useful, what's noise, and how to structure it. You'll work closely with people on the trading side to shape research questions and test ideas, then carry promising ones from a rough hypothesis through statistical testing and into something usable in practice. You'll also build and maintain the tools around that process - dashboards, pipelines, reporting - and you're expected to make good use of modern tooling, AI included, to get more done with less friction.

Who Fits Well

• A numerate degree - maths, stats, computer science, physics, engineering, or finance
• Early career (roughly 1 - 4 years) in a research, analytics, or data-focused role
• Very strong Python skills
• Real, hands-on experience using AI tools to improve how you work - not just familiarity
• Fast learner, comfortable dropping into an unfamiliar market or dataset
• Broadly technical - comfortable across different systems and tools
• Enjoys working closely with people, not just with data
