Job Description

Senior Quantitative Researcher – HFT

Location: Amsterdam

Company: Confidential (via Venture Search)

Venture Search is partnering with one of the world's leading proprietary trading firms to hire a Senior Quantitative Researcher to join its high-frequency trading business in Amsterdam.

Our client is renowned for its research-first culture, exceptional engineering talent, and world-class trading infrastructure. Rather than operating within siloed research functions, quantitative researchers are given end-to-end ownership of the entire strategy lifecycle—from alpha generation through to production deployment and live trading performance.

This is an opportunity for researchers who want to see their ideas translated directly into production while taking genuine ownership of the alpha they create.

The Role

As a Senior Quantitative Researcher, you will:

  • Research, develop, and deploy fully systematic HFT trading strategies across highly liquid electronic markets
  • Generate novel alpha signals using advanced statistical techniques and large-scale market datasets
  • Take ownership of the complete research lifecycle, from hypothesis generation and backtesting through to production implementation
  • Work closely with software engineers to optimise execution, latency, and overall trading performance
  • Continuously monitor, refine, and improve live strategies using real-time market feedback
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the firm's quantitative research platform and trading infrastructure

This is a genuinely end-to-end research role where your ideas move directly into production and your research has measurable commercial impact.

Requirements

  • 4\+ years of quantitative research experience within a leading proprietary trading firm, market maker, or quantitative hedge fund
  • Proven track record developing profitable HFT alpha in a live trading environment
  • Deep understanding of market microstructure, statistical modelling, and electronic trading
  • Exceptional mathematical and statistical problem-solving ability
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C\+\+, with experience developing production-quality research systems
  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline preferred

What’s on Offer

  • Opportunity to join one of the world's premier HFT proprietary trading firms
  • True ownership of your research from alpha generation through to live production
  • Collaborative environment where quantitative researchers work directly with engineering and trading teams
  • Access to world-class technology, market data, and low-latency infrastructure
  • Highly competitive compensation package with significant long-term upside
  • Amsterdam-based role within one of Europe's leading quantitative trading hubs

If you are a senior quantitative researcher looking for genuine ownership of your research and the opportunity to build end-to-end systematic HFT strategies within a world-class trading environment, Venture Search would welcome a confidential discussion.
