Research Scientist
Location: Michigan \| Full-time \| On-site
We are looking for a
Research Scientist
to join a growing R\&D laboratory focused on advanced materials characterization, imaging and biomaterials research.
This is a hands-on role suited to a scientist with a strong academic background and practical experience operating advanced imaging and characterization equipment.
Key Requirements:
- PhD in
Materials Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials, Oral Health Sciences
or a related discipline.
- 2\+ years' relevant research experience
preferred. MS candidates with substantial independent imaging experience will also be considered.
- Strong hands-on experience with
TEM/STEM or MicroCT/NanoCT
.
- Experience with specimen preparation, imaging acquisition and quantitative data analysis.
- Understanding of imaging artefacts, reconstruction, segmentation and experimental controls.
- Experience working with
hard, brittle, mineralised or biological specimens
.
- Independent experience using major shared-facility instrumentation.
Additional experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
SEM, FIB, EDS, electron diffraction, Raman, FTIR, XRD, SAXS/WAXS, NanoSIMS, nanoindentation or atom probe tomography.
Experience with
enamel, dentin, bone, biomaterials, biomineralisation or remineralisation
would be particularly relevant.
