Job Description
You will spend your time working with the immunohistochemistry team identifying signalling pathways and biomarkers within lung samples obtained from COPD patients and controls. You will have experience in using immunohistochemistry for research.
You will be expected to collect samples obtained from clinical and research studies, as well as lung samples obtained at the time of surgery. You will be involved at all these stages as well as ensuring all sample records are maintained.
You will be expected to supervise and train various members of the group in immunohistochemistry. You will also have experience in aseptic technique and cell culture as well as some of the following techniques: RNA extraction from cells and tissue, real-time PCR, protein extraction from cells and tissue, flow cytometry. You will also be involved in general laboratory maintenance.
Training will be given in laboratory techniques where needed. Due to dependence of the work on patient samples, working hours may be spread across a 7-day week. We are looking for a candidate with laboratory experience. A confident team player is needed to interact with clinical and non-clinical staff in a multidisciplinary team environment.
